Game Day is in Gainesville

The booth is down in front of the Gator Wesley Center just off University and 13th.
Corso and the boys are in South Carolina, but still go heckle the other ESPN guys for us.

Game Day Grub: Bourbon Pecan Pie

Since the Gators are playing LSU, we're posting a recipe that calls for bourbon...well, sort of.

Filling
3 eggs
3/4 cup brown sugar
3 tbsps flour
1 cup dark corn syrup
2 tbsps butter/margarine melted
1 1/2 cup pecan halves

Topping
3/4 cup whipping cream
2 tbsps brown sugar
1 tsp vanilla

Directions
Pre-heat oven to 325.
Mix all filling ingredients, except pecans, and beat until smooth.  Stir in pecans.
Line bottom of crust shell with a layer of pecans.  Pour into crust-lined pie plate.
Bake 15 minutes.  Cover top of crust with foil to prevent excessive browning.  Bake 40-45 mins more or until filling is set and center of pie is golden brown.  Let pie completely cool.

Topping Directions
Beat topping ingredients in a chilled mixing bowl.  Mix at high speed until soft peaks form.
(Or pie some whipped topping at the store.)

It's Friday and it's 5 o'clock in Hogtown!

Food Friday: Chili

This is a simple chili recipe for game day. Not too much to distract you from the important stuff.

Hamburger Chili
2 pounds Ground Beef
2 cans Large (48oz) V8 Vegetable Juice
2 cups Frozen Corn
2 teaspoons Spices (Season to taste using  salt, pepper, garlic powder, onion powder and red pepper flakes for the more adventurous.)

Brown the beef in a large skillet and drain off fat.
Place the cooked beef, V8, corn and spices into your crockpot. Cook on low for 8 to 12 hours. Serve with shredded cheese on top.

And if you tried it and liked it, or not, let us know!

Orange and Blue Mohawk Trapper

Now that it's finally Fall like weather and even kinda cold for us Floridians, we'd like to see a few of  you sportin' this fine hat now that it's cold enough (below 70 is cold, right?)  to wear such a fine hat to class in the morning.  And it's perfect for all you Tebow Broncos fans too.  The pattern is actually pretty similar to the Broncos end zone designs.

And when you get this hat, please!, send us some pics of yourselves.

What would Alberta think?

Have you seen the designs for the possible new Ole Miss mascots?  If not, click here.  We're hoping that they go for the Hotty Toddy, because it is so ludicrous.  But what would Alberta think?  Do you think Alberta would like having Hotty Toddy visit the Swamp or not?

Gator Petit Fours

How great are these?  And, apparently, they taste better than they look.
(You can get them at Publix.)

Gator Bait: Gator eats dog

Even in Germany they understand.  Makes you wonder if a Gator was involved in this promotion.
(Sure, they call it a "Croc" but look at its nose...it's a 'gator.)

What would Alberta think?

Winning isn't everything, but losing sucks.

Truer words have not been said...at least not in sports.  And losing to Alabama sucked.

But it's not the end of the season, far from it.  There are few seasons where you know you have a possible practice game against the returning National Champions, and the Gators have that possibility this year.

Sure, the Gators could drop another game this season, but so can Alabama and every other team in the nation. Alabama play five more teams that have a bye week preceding their game with Alabama.  Alabama has far more trap games than the Gators.  And you never, ever underestimate the Iron Bowl.  This isn't hopeful wishing, this is the reality of playing in the SEC.  LSU lost to Kentucky in 2007, and the Gators to Ole Miss in 2008, and both went on to become National Champions.  Stranger things have happened....like yesterday's Tennessee - LSU game.  It's why they play 'em and why we watch 'em.

"In all kinds of weather we'll all stick togetheeeeeeeeeerrrr, for F - L - O - R - I - D - A!  Hey!"

Regardless, win or lose, it's GREAT to be a FLORIDA GATOR!  GO GATORS!
